OLS provides participants in Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps long-term mobility activities (Key Action 1) with the opportunity to assess their knowledge of the main mobility language, before and after their stay abroad. If they so wish, participants also have the opportunity to follow an online language course to improve their language level, before and during their mobility.
With the exception of native speakers, compulsory OLS language assessments must be undertaken both before and at the end of the mobility period in order to monitor the progress made in language competence. For Higher Education students, except in duly justified cases, taking the OLS language assessment before departure is a prerequisite for the exchange. However, the results of the language assessment will not prevent them from taking part in the mobility activity.
Based on their results, participants also have the opportunity to follow an online language course before and during their stay abroad in order to improve their language competence, if they so wish. Access to the course includes live coaching: tutoring sessions, MOOCs, a moderated forum, and more.
