You only need a computer (or tablet) with an Internet connection in order to connect to the OLS website and to take the OLS language assessments and courses. OLS is completely online, and therefore does not require the installation of any third party software. Before accessing the language assessment or the language course, the system automatically checks if your computer meets the minimum requirements. This check includes your screen resolution, browser, multimedia software (Adobe Flash or HTML 5) and agreement to the use of cookies.
When taking the language assessment, you should be equipped with a headset or loudspeakers in order to undertake the listening exercises.
When taking an online language course, it is recommended that you are equipped with a microphone for the optimal use of the tutoring sessions (no microphone is required for MOOCs).
Adobe Flash must be installed in order to follow the tutoring sessions. Before accessing the language course, the system automatically checks if Adobe Flash is installed on your computer and you will be notified should your computer not meet this requirement.
